Beautiful Mwana Pwevo mask of the Lwena people living in Zambia.
Ex collection of the late Walter Steinberg, London/USA.
Now in my private Dutch collection.

Material: wood, pigment, plantfibres, raffia, metal.
Traditional scarifictions on the forehead and cheeks (sun).
Wooden stick through the nose.
Metal earrings.
Slitted eyes.
Fine glossy patina.
