Professional academic sculpture, wholly handmade by professional craftsmen. A piece from a museum plaster cast collection. The craft has very ancient origins and is carried out by artists in the sculptural sector, made with materials such as scagliola and Carrara marble powder.
Caracalla (AD 211–217) was a Roman emperor known for the Edict that extended citizenship to almost all free men of the Empire and for the grand Baths of Caracalla. He ruled with cruelty and was assassinated during a military campaign.
The indicated dimensions are to be understood as including the base, if present.
