Wonderful antique Cousances casserole in enamelled cast iron, French-made dating from the 1960s, in remarkable condition.

It features an elegant glossy orange exterior, paired with an ivory interior enamel, typical of French productions from that period. The underside, particularly well-preserved, retains a very beautiful shine and bears the moulded marks “Cousances – France – 16” as well as the manufacturer's monogram.

Condition
Exceptional for its age. The enamel is remarkably preserved, with no notable chipping. The ivory interior appears very clean. A few micro-scratches and light signs of use, mainly on the handle, are visible and consistent with a piece around 60 years old. The detailed photographs allow precise appreciation of its condition.

The Cousances manufactory, based in the Meuse and specializing in enamelled cast iron, ranks among the major historic names of French culinary art. The brand was integrated into Le Creuset in 1957, and its old productions are today sought after by enamelled cast iron enthusiasts and vintage culinary design lovers.

This No. 16 casserole perfectly illustrates the quality of these productions: thick cast iron, excellent thermal inertia and even heat diffusion. The enamel protects the iron, eases maintenance and provides a surface suited to slow-cooked preparations, sauces and gentle cooking.
