22 black-and-white photographs by Dora Kallmus, known as Madame D’Ora (1881-1963), a renowned pictorialist photographer, and Monique Paravicini (1916-2003).

These photographs are accompanied by press excerpts published between 1928 and 1936.

Paperback edition with a soft cover, kept in its original crystal paper and complete with its cardboard case. Excellent condition given its age.

These photographs depict the Spanish dancer and choreographer Antonia Mercé y Luques (1890-1936), born in Buenos Aires, better known by her stage name “La Argentina.” An essential figure in the renewal of Spanish dance, flamenco, and choreography in the 20th century. She is regarded by many as one of the great innovators of 20th-century Spanish dance. Known for being a prominent progressive feminist, she inherited from Serge Diaghilev the direction of the Spanish Ballet in Paris. Throughout her career, she collaborated with avant-garde Spanish artists such as Manuel de Falla, Enrique Granados, Isaac Albéniz, José Padilla Sánchez, and Federico García Lorca.

These photographs represent the Argentine dancer in performances she gave in New York, London, and Paris from 1934 to 1936.
