Description from the seller
~Megalodon tooth from the Miocene – North Carolina, USA
This impressive Megalodon jaw tooth comes from the United States, where fossils like these are found directly on the seabed. This gives it a beautifully robust appearance and an authentic, “lived-in” look – pure nature.
Compared with fossils from other localities, such as Indonesia, USA teeth are known for their solid, strong roots and high degree of originality. Indonesian teeth can sometimes display sharper serrations and a smoother enamel due to the type of sediment in which they are found, but are also more often repaired or even partially reconstructed. In the US, restoration is much less common, so most finds – like this specimen – have remained fully authentic.
This tooth is 100% original and unrestored, with a powerful root and lovely natural details. A special and honest piece for the serious collector who places value on authenticity.
