La Spinetta – Barbaresco Vürsù Vigneto Starderi 2017
The Starderi Barbaresco from La Spinetta (Giorgio Rivetti) is a true heavyweight from the Langhe, coming from a single historic cru in the municipality of Neive, with monumental vines aged between 55 and 65 years. The 2017 vintage, characterized by very low yields and rigorous vineyard selection, has produced a wine of extraordinary concentration, richness, and an unsuspected grace, enhanced by the classic aging in French oak barriques.
Scores: JS 96 | RP 94 | VN 94
Color: Intense ruby red with garnet reflections.
Nose: Wide, dense, and magnetizing. Features dark ripe fruit (wild plum, dried blackberries), followed by orange zest, notes of cocoa, sweet spices, tobacco, and a suggestive mineral nuance of ash and undergrowth.
Palate: Full-bodied, robust, and enveloping. The tannins are dense, ripe, and smooth, supported by a beautiful fresh acidity that carries the sip toward an incredibly long, flavorful, and balsamic finish.
Cellaring and Serving: A collectible bottle that is just now entering its perfect drinking window, but with potential for further aging in the cellar estimated until 2035-2040. Perfect with large braised meat dishes, game, or blue-veined and aged cheeses.
The bottle is in impeccable condition (level, label, and capsule perfect) and has been stored lying down in a professional cellar at controlled temperature and humidity.
