Italian crystal flush‑mount plafonnier in Empire/Louis XVI style, with a two‑tier basket design, dimensions 100 cm wide by 60 cm deep by 50 cm high, housing 10 bulbs with new wiring and in excellent, fully working condition.
Description from the seller
An authentic, vintage Italian crystal *plafonnier* (flush-mount ceiling light)—specifically a "basket" style fixture featuring a wide crystal bowl shape that sits close to the ceiling—complemented by a central, downward-hanging cluster of three tiers of engraved crystal icicles.
Empire/Louis XVI style; a design popular since the 19th century.
Construction
Support rim: A wide, cast brass/bronze (or gilt metal) ring, decorated with a relief acanthus vine and rosette motif, bordered on both sides by beading.
Basket: A flattened, dome-shaped bowl formed by densely draped garlands of octagonal crystals (known as "Turkish beads"), creating a regular, net-like pattern.
Icicle fringe: A row of long, cut-glass icicles (or "arrows") with pointed tips, suspended beneath the rim.
Lower cascade: A smaller, three-tiered "basket" hanging centrally beneath the main bowl, terminating in a fringe of icicles. This gives the fixture a distinctive, two-tiered silhouette.
Light sources: 10 bulbs (standard large base) concealed within the basket, allowing the light to diffuse beautifully through the crystals.
The fixture is clean and fully complete with its original, high-lead-content Italian crystals. It features new, fully functional, and safe wiring.
