Chandelier or hanging lamp, STRASS crystal, 1970s - Spain

Excellent Hollywood Regency style chandelier manufactured in the 1970s. It consists of a central metal brass framework that supports a system of chains and concentric rings where the crystal elements are fixed. The body is formed by multi-faceted STRASS crystal prisms and beads, arranged in a vertical cascade and in circular bands. The overall geometry combines a tapered upper section with a lower ring of larger diameter, creating a stepped volume. This type of structure is heavily inspired by French Empire-style chandeliers.

At the bottom area there is an integrated set of crystal drops and a central pendant, both mounted on small metal rings. These elements function as light diffusers and as the visual closure of the piece. The main advantage of STRASS crystal is that it weighs less than ordinary crystal, something important for homes today.

During Hollywood's Golden Age of cinema, around the 1920s, a decorative style known as Hollywood Regency emerged, which starred the interiors of American stars. Characterized by glamour, vivid colors, and the contrast between materials, it aims to create ostentatious and even scenographic interiors. Its use extended throughout the 20th century, crossing American borders and reaching Europe as well.
