Weights Antique - France - 1850-1900

Antique set of brass standard masses presented in its original wooden case.

This box was intended for a precision balance used in a laboratory, pharmacy, jewelry, or for metrology work. The masses are equipped with grab handles and bear engraved inscriptions, notably “GRAMMES” as well as the initials of the manufacturer or control (“E.J.”, “P.E.”).

The box retains a beautiful antique patina. The masses show natural brass oxidation (verdigris in places), in keeping with their age. The wooden case is in good structural condition with signs of use.

Lovely collectible item for enthusiasts of antique scientific instruments, of precision balances and of metrology.
