Two cushions in total, featuring Gobelin jacquard fabric with floral embroidery in rose and blue, and pink "Île-de-France" trimming all around.
Gobelin is a fabric produced on a jacquard loom, using different warp beams and different shuttles for the weft. The varied warps and wefts, in different colors, combined with the capabilities of the jacquard loom, create very complex and detailed designs, with possible relief effects, giving body to a very showy fabric.
Best known as a royal factory supplying the courts of French monarchs since Louis XIV, Gobelin is now run by the Administration générale du Mobilier national et des Manufactures nationales de tapis et tapisseries of the French Ministry of Culture and remains in operation today as a state-run institution.
