Emergency coin (Notgeld) issued during the difficult period of the Weimar Republic, after World War I. The obverse features the portrait of General Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher, hero of the Napoleonic wars, while the reverse shows a galloping horse, a heraldic symbol of Westphalia. These coins were minted in aluminum due to the shortage of precious metals, and they represent a singular chapter of German monetary history.
