Description from the seller

Universal Genève Polerouter Date – Icon Designed by Gérald Genta – Completely Original and in Working Condition (Circa 1960)
A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for vintage haute horology collectors! One of the most legendary, influential, and sought-after pieces in the history of watchmaking goes up for auction: the Universal Genève Polerouter Date. Designed by the genius Gérald Genta at the young age of 23 (the same creator of the Royal Oak and the Nautilus), this model represents an absolute milestone in 20th-century industrial design. The Origin of a Legend
Born originally in 1954 to commemorate SAS (Scandinavian Airlines System) polar flights crossing the North Pole, the Polerouter required extreme magnetic resistance and precision for aerial navigation. Today, with the long-awaited renaissance of the historic house Universal Genève, the value and demand for these original-era pieces are rising strongly on the international market.
Key Highlights of This Unit
100% Originality Guaranteed: An honest, purely original piece, ideal for the strict collector who shies away from modified watches or pieces with aftermarket parts.
"Bombe" Case Design: Iconic stainless steel case (approx. 35.5 mm without the crown), with its unmistakable, fluid, and muscular twisted lugs, the definitive Genta hallmark.
Exceptional "Crosshair" Dial: Beautiful champagne/silver textured dial with the fine crosshair lines clearly visible. It shows a natural, evenly aged patina that certifies its more than 60 years of history.
Internal Tension Ring: Retains its characteristic silver inner ring with guilloché finish and faceted markers, originally designed to absorb shocks.
Mechanical Heart with Micro-rotor: Automatic movement featuring Universal Genève’s legendary micro-rotor calibre, a breakthrough that revolutionized the industry by enabling extremely thin automatic calibres.
Classic Details: Original faceted Dauphine hands and date window at 3 o’clock with its intact trapezoidal frame.
Current Condition as Shown in Photos
Mechanism: The watch is in working order and has recently undergone an internal cleaning to ensure accurate timekeeping.
Crystal/Crystal Glass: The original plexiglass (mica) has been recently polished to correct wear marks accumulated over time. While its aesthetics and visibility have been notably improved, it retains imperfections that preserve its legitimate vintage character.
Condition as per photographs—please examine closely.
Flaws limited to the mica and the dial’s aging.
Watch in working order.
