AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Splendid pair of kidney-shaped (bean-shaped) side tables, an excellent example of art furniture in the Louis XV or Napoleon III style from the early 1900s, characterized by sinuous lines and extremely high-quality finishes. The curvilinear kidney-shaped silhouette is designed to elegantly sit against walls, at the sides of the bed, or as refined central writing desks (bureau de dame). The surface, the side edges and the front feature rich marquetry work and are hand-painted with elaborate floral and natural motifs in gold/light wood tones that stand out against a dark ebonized background. The profiles and the cabriole legs are embellished with detailed friezes and little gilded bronze shoes (ormolu), typical of French artistic cabinetry, while the upper edge is finished with a pierced metal gallery in gilt brass (brass gallery), created to prevent objects placed on top from falling. Each piece is equipped with a central three-drawer file, adorned with central bronze knobs. Truly rare pieces in good structural condition, there are defects and color separations and veneering on the top, but these do not detract from the timeless beauty and charm of these pieces, about a century old, of life.
