Intriguing Voodoo fetish from Benin. It is a three-headed figure, a representation of Papa Densu, a little-known male deity linked to Mami Wata, goddess of water. The figure is covered with a crust of offerings. It seems anchored to the ground, in a proud and powerful pose. Each face has its own expression. One is gentle and touching, one aggressive and tense, the last seems focused and watchful. The whole is alive; it is a possessed object. A small bell is hanging from its neck. The patina is rich, a blend of various offerings, blood, alcohol... The base is damaged, see photos, sold as is. An ancient and authentic Voodoo cult object. Circa 1960.
