Interesting genre scene executed in oil on panel, by an author belonging to the European school of the mid-19th century, probably of French origin. The composition depicts two young women in a garden or natural setting, engaged in gathering flowers.

In the foreground, one of the figures is seated on a reddish cloth and raises her arm to reach for some roses. The second young woman remains behind her, holding flowers between her hands and directing her gaze toward her companion. The arrangement of both figures creates an intimate, gentle, and evocative scene.

The work is related to European Romantic and genre painting of the central decades of the 19th century. The floral theme, the elegance of the figures, and the sentimental tone of the scene respond to the taste for idealized female representations developed especially in France during this period.
