Description from the seller
RiVe has once again succeeded in bringing a genuine Japanese classic to Europe: the legendary Yamaha YP D10!! This high-end turntable was previously reserved for the Japanese domestic market. For true enthusiasts, a wonderful opportunity to add this exclusive player to your collection.
The Yamaha YP-D10 is a direct-drive turntable from 1978 and was Yamaha’s flagship at the time. The unit is renowned for its high build quality, the heavy 31 cm cast aluminum platter (2.4 kg), and the use of the UR method (Ultimate Refining Method) to minimize vibrations for optimal sound reproduction. The technology is driven by a 12-pole DC Hall motor and employs a dual servo system: a quartz PLL system for low frequencies and an FG servo for mid frequencies, resulting in an extremely low wow & flutter of up to 0.03%. The turntable features an S-shaped tonearm with a gimbal mount, a roller-string anti-skate, and a semi-automatic end-of-play mechanism that lifts the arm and switches off the power. The housing is not a “hollow box,” but a solid type with 64 mm thick laminated high-density plates to reduce adverse vibration effects. In addition, a 1.6 mm thick steel backplate is used to prevent resonance. This also protects against unwanted radiation from crystal oscillator circuits and logic circuits. Because this is a player for the Japanese market, a step-down converter from 240 volts to 100/110 volts is required. This is always included with RiVe at the time of purchase.
The cartridge mounted here is as legendary as the YP D10 itself. The Shure V15 Mk III excels in tracking capability, detailed playback, and a clear and neutral tonal character. The sound is described as very musical, with excellent channel separation. It comes into its own on lighter tonearms, making it a perfect match for this Yamaha.
As seen in the photos, this Japanese heavyweight is still in beautiful condition. It comes from the collection of an enthusiast who always treated it with care, and that is evident. No notable scratches or damage after nearly 50 years of use. The dust cover is still in a good state. The hinges are still strong and keep the lid well open. Of course, this beautiful turntable is also in top condition underneath. As is typical at RiVe, every item to be auctioned first goes to RiVe’s fixed service technician for a thorough service and long-term testing of the product. Only when the technician is 100% satisfied is the item released for auction so you can bid with peace of mind.
If you want to see the player in action, check RiVe’s own YouTube channel by entering RiVe Vintage Audio in the search bar. In addition to perfect operation, you can also view the cosmetic condition.
