Vintage Dinner Service S.C. Richard with Pagnossin Treviso (37 pieces) - Floral Decor and Gold Rim - Terraglia Forte - 1930s/1950s
In auction, a fascinating vintage dining service composed of as many as 37 pieces in total, dating to the mid-20th century (approximately 1930s/1950s).
The set features a refined finish with an undulating and fluted edge, embellished with a delicate gold profile and decorated with five small multicolored floral bouquets distributed along the rim, with traditional motifs of roses and cornflowers.
Most of the dishes bear on the back the historic green mark with the rampant lion of S.C. Richard (Società Ceramica Richard, Milan). Mixed within the service are some pieces that are aesthetically identical in shape, size, and decoration, but branded on the back Pagnossin Treviso ("Terraglia Forte", with the green angel logo).
This combination is a historic and exceptional feature of the lot: it tangibly documents the close collaboration and industrial fusion that occurred in the postwar period between the two famous Italian manufacturers. The companies used the same identical molds and designs to satisfy market demands, giving rise to a service unique in its kind and very interesting for collectors.
The service is arranged to comfortably serve up to 11-12 people and is composed as follows:
• 14 Dinner Plates 23.5x23.5x2.5
• 12 Soup Plates 23x23x3.5
- 11 Dessert Plates 19x19x2
The service presents in good overall conservation. All 37 pieces are structurally sound and free of chips, cracks, or crazing in the material. As a genuine vintage service, there are the normal and natural signs of time and age, such as a light and uniform wear to the gold profile on some edges due to washing and prior use. The ceramic retains an excellent luster.
