Ferrania Ibis 127 camera, physically in discrete condition and tested and functioning, dating from 1950–1960.
Description from the seller
Title: Ferrania Ibis – Edition "Ceci n'est pas un portrait" (Custom Surrealist Leatherette) Objective: Ferrania Primar 75mm (retractable tube)
Description
A one-of-a-kind piece that blends the history of Italian photographic design from the 1950s with the charm of surrealist art. This Ferrania Ibis has been completely reinterpreted with a new custom technical covering, designed to transform a vintage icon into a collectible work of art.
After studying color and material combinations coherent with the camera’s era and its innovative character for the time in which it was created, I envisioned something unimaginable until then. I decided to use a technical material waterproofed by treatment, resistant to oily stains and to tearing, for a new technical covering that features a surrealist-inspired illustration (reminiscent of Magritte and Dalí), characterized by cybernetic figures, dreamlike landscapes, and the caption "Ceci n'est pas un portrait". The latest photos show the resistance tests applied to similar decorations but always made from the same material.
Retracted lens:
The lens that sits perfectly recessed into the camera body when closed is an important aspect that escapes many: when it’s tucked inside the camera, simply pushing it inward with your fingers without threading anything into the body, the shutter release detaches on its own, preventing unintentional shots when carrying the camera, in case it happens by accident while it’s in a bag or pocket. So, when you want to take a photo after manually extending the lens to its only possible position of about 2.5 cm outward, the shutter button becomes active again and is ready for use: brilliant! Remember to advance the film manually if you don’t want overlapping frames, or do it deliberately!
Coordinated lens cover: custom-made with the same semi-rigid technical material that echoes the central motif of the metal/cybernetic bust, ideal for protecting the lens from dust or minor knocks during transport.
