La Spinetta Rivetti Valeirano Barbaresco 2016 in a wooden case containing six 0.75 L bottles.
Description from the seller
Up for auction is a magnificent original, sealed/complete wooden case (OWC - Original Wooden Case) containing 6 bottles of 0.75L Barbaresco Vürsù Vigneto Valeirano 2016 from the renowned La Spinetta winery (Giorgio Rivetti). Originating from the Valeirano cru in Treiso (characterized by high-altitude calcareous soils), this Barbaresco embodies La Spinetta’s unmistakable style: power, concentration, and extraction skillfully balanced by extraordinary mineral freshness. The 2016 vintage is universally recognized by international critics as one of the wines of the century in Piedmont, endowed with monumental structure and excellent aging potential. Technical details and tasting notes:
Producer: La Spinetta (Castagnole Lanze / Treiso, Italy)
Wine: Barbaresco DOCG Vürsù Vigneto Valeirano
Vintage: 2016 (Exceptional vintage / 5 stars)
Format: Original wooden case for 6 bottles (6x0.75 L)
Grape: 100% Nebbiolo
Vinification and maturation: Fermentation and maceration in rotofermenting tanks; maturation for about 20-22 months in French oak barriques (mostly new), followed by 12 months of bottle aging before release.
Organoleptic profile: Deep garnet-red color. On the nose, a complex bouquet of wild plum, Amarena cherry, dried rose petals, leather, dark spices and balsamic notes. On the palate it is powerful, austere, well-structured, with a deep, sapid mineral vein and dense, smooth tannins.
Critics’ scores (2016 vintage): Vinous (Antonio Galloni): 96/100; Robert Parker (Wine Advocate): 95+/100; James Suckling: 96/100
Potential for aging: 2024 – 2045+
