Description from the seller

For sale is an absolute showpiece and collection highlight from the world-famous Upper Jurassic Solnhofen limestones (Eichstätt, Bavaria). This is a fossil shrimp of the species "Aeger spinipes" in an exceptional size and museum-grade quality.
While normal finds are usually much smaller, this specimen impresses with its monumental dimensions (the matrix measures approx. 27 x 19 cm, the fossil itself majestically occupies almost the entire width).
Highlights of this piece:
• Museum quality: The shrimp has been masterfully and extremely precisely prepared from the rock. The fine walking legs (scissor and grabbing appendages), the bases of the antennae, as well as the individual segments of the abdomen and the tail fans (telson) are perfectly three-dimensionally preserved.
• Natural aesthetics: The slab is crossed by beautiful, filigree manganese dendrites (natural, tree-like mineral structures) that look like a work of art by nature and frame the fossil perfectly.
• UV activity: As is typical for the best preservations from Solnhofen, the fossil shows under UV light a fascinating intrinsic fluorescence, which makes the finest structures appear even more plastically (see close-up).
• Condition: No restorations, excellent substance, professionally secured and prepared.
A true investment piece for discerning collectors or as a representative display object for private and public museums.
• Fossil: Aeger spinipes (DESMAREST, 1822)
• Age: Late Jurassic, Malm zeta (approx. 150 million years)
• Locality: Solnhofen limestone, Eichstätt / Solnhofen region, Bavaria, Germany
• Matrix dimensions: approx. 27 x 19 cm
Shipping is carried out extremely securely packed, cushioned and with tracking.
