Description from the seller

A rare and elegant Art Deco faience jar (ewer) by the renowned Belgian manufacturer Boch Frères La Louvière, dating from the 1930s.

The refined design with the wavy spout and the large, round hoop-shaped handle is a well-known design by Raymond Chevalier.

The piece features a fine, jet-black floral pattern (all-over motif) on a soft pink glazed background. The edges and the handle are finished with a gold-coloured gilding, providing a characteristic and luxurious Art Deco contrast.

Marks and stamps:
The underside bears the original blue underglaze transfer stamp: "Boch Fes La Louvière - Made in Belgium - Fabrication Belge" (dating ca. 1920-1930).
Also incised is a blind mark with the loose production/size number '4' on the base.

Condition:
In good vintage condition. No chips, hairlines or restorations present. The ceramic has retained its original gloss nicely. The unglazed stand ring on the underside shows some normal discoloration and roughness due to age. The gilding on the handle shows wear consistent with age (see detail photographs).
