WMF - Karl Wiedmann - Vase - Glass - Ikora

Offered: a stunning IKORA glass vase in Art Deco style, manufactured in Germany in the 1920s–1930s of the last century by WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik). The vase is characterized by an elegant baluster shape with a rounded, pear-shaped body and a gracefully flaring neck, creating a typically refined Art Deco silhouette. The vase is finished in a refined iridescent color range from turquoise-green to warm golden yellow. The marbled and craquelé-like decoration gives the vase a particularly artistic appearance and strongly evokes the glass techniques popular in the Art Deco period.

This vase was produced using the Ikora technique developed by WMF, in which different types of glass, colors, and metal oxides are combined to create unique, glittering and marbled surfaces. The lead designer behind the Ikora glasswork was Karl Wiedmann, who worked from 1926 to 1945 as head designer of the decorative arts department at WMF. Wiedmann was a contemporary of Andries Copier. This is also reflected in the designs and the frequently occurring craquelé style. Wiedmann played a central role in the development of the Ikora technique and designed countless iconic vases, bowls and glass objects that are now considered valuable collectibles. Most Ikora pieces date from the late 1920s and early 1930s.

The vase captures light in a magnificent way and changes color depending on the angle of incidence of light, creating a particularly decorative effect. A stylish object that fits wonderfully in both modern and classical interiors.
