The John Lobb 2005 model is a masterfully crafted plain-toe Oxford. This design originates from the exclusive Saint-Crépin line, with which the English manufacturer pays its annual celebratory tribute to the patron saint of shoemakers on the twenty-fifth of October. The exact edition size of the year 2005 can no longer be definitively determined today after so many years; however, for the Saint-Crépin models of the recent past, John Lobb specifies 500 pairs worldwide for each edition. Exactly therein lies the special appeal of this series: while an MTO model can generally be reordered according to customer wishes, a Saint-Crépin edition remains bound to its respective year of release, thereby evading any subsequent reproduction. In the design presented here, the high art of bespoke shoemaking reveals itself in a remarkably flowing side seam that wraps around the instep as if cast from a single mold. Such a complex pattern does not forgive the slightest flaw and requires leather hides of flawless purity, as the entire front section of the foot must be shaped from a single, expansive piece.

The masterpiece was crafted on the proven 7000 last, which creates a timeless and at the same time very refined shape with its gently elongated toe. The upper leather presents itself as striking Parisian Museum Calf in warm shades of brown. Its profound, cloudy marbling is not the result of superficial care, but is created by a highly complex sponge technique deep within the heart of the tanning process. The upper is supported by the sublime Prestige leather sole, whose closed channel stitching and heavily hand-beveled waist require countless hours of concentrated handwork with traditional shoemaking tools. It is a shoe that, in its perfect simplicity, speaks quietly of that unconditional dedication which makes true craftsmanship immortal.

Leather / Outer condition: Like NEW. The pair is in an absolutely mint overall condition and was evidently worn minimally, at most for fitting purposes. The leather in the Parisian brown Museum Calf finish presents itself flawlessly and still possesses the original firmness of an entirely unworn shoe. The interior is correspondingly in an impeccable, mint state of preservation.

Heel / Sole: Both the leather soles and the heels show only minimal signs of contact, which indicate a brief fitting and correspond completely with the mint overall condition of the pair.
