STORIA / PANORAMICA
The 1992 Volkswagen Polo GT Variant represents one of the most interesting versions of the second-generation Polo range, standing out for the sporty character of the GT trim combined with the practicality of the Variant body. Thanks to reliable mechanics, compact dimensions, and great versatility, this version is today a rare testament to Volkswagen’s sporty compacts of the early 1990s.
Today, Polo GT Variant examples faithful to the original specifications are increasingly hard to find, especially when they can boast low mileage and a documented history.
The specimen offered at auction was registered in 1992 and retains its original configuration both inside and out. It has covered only 85,000 kilometers, is accompanied by a clean Carfax confirming mileage consistency, original manuals, twin keys, original plates, and the original logbook, and has recently undergone a technical inspection, passed without defects, fully roadworthy.
EXTERIOR
The bodywork was fully repainted a few years ago by the previous owner in the correct original factory Verde Montana color, code LB6Z, as shown on the vehicle’s identification plate.
The paint is in overall excellent condition, with only minor signs consistent with normal use. A professional polishing and detailing treatment was recently performed to enhance the body’s shine.
A gauge check showed no signs of accidents or structural repairs. Previous repainting and restoration work were carried out professionally.
The undercarriage is original, solid, has never required restoration work, and is suitable for normal road use.
INTERIOR
The cabin retains its original configuration, as confirmed by the vehicle’s identification plate. Leather-and-fabric upholstered seats, door panels, and other interior elements show normal signs of use consistent with the car’s age and are well maintained thanks to the mileage, with a high level of authenticity.
The dashboard retains all the original standard instrumentation, and the overall interior is neat, well preserved, and fully usable.
Prior to sale, a thorough interior sanitization was also performed.
MECHANICAL
Mechanically, the car is operable and the engine has been kept in good shape through periodic firing. It starts easily and runs smoothly. The gearbox, clutch, and braking system function correctly, and gear engagement is smooth while driving.
The technical inspection is currently valid until August 2028, confirming the vehicle’s roadworthiness.
As with any historic or young-timer car, even when inspected and road-registered, it is advisable to perform a standard preventative mechanical check before undertaking long journeys.
Thanks to the certified low mileage, clean Carfax, original configuration, the rare GT Variant version, and the elegant Verde Montana color, this Volkswagen Polo GT represents a model that is always hard to source on the market.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
