STORY / OVERVIEW
The Volkswagen Beetle “Jeans” is one of the most iconic special editions produced by the House of Wolfsburg in the seventies. Born to appeal to a younger audience, it stood out for an exclusive setup featuring dedicated details, specific finishes, and the famous denim-inspired interior coverings, soon becoming one of the most original and recognizable versions of the entire Beetle production.
Refined in the original Yellow Tunis color (code L16M), it retains the black plates and the original first-registration booklet, elements that enhance its historical and collecting value.
EXTERIOR
The bodywork was completely restored a few years ago in its original Yellow and still presents in overall excellent condition. The paint retains a beautiful shine, while the structure is solid and well maintained, with only minimal signs consistent with normal use.
Doors and hoods open and close correctly, confirming good body alignment.
Recently a professional polishing and detailing treatment was also performed, further enhancing the vehicle’s presentation.
The check with a micrometer did not reveal any evidence of accidents or structural repairs.
The underbody was repainted during the previous restoration and appears solid, well preserved and suitable for normal road use.
INTERIOR
The cabin was restored a few years ago in full respect of the Jeans original configuration, preserving the unmistakable character of this special version.
The seats retain the rare Jeans fabric that the previous owner, a model enthusiast, wanted to keep: the driver’s seat has a tear. However, new black vinyl upholstery can be installed.
The dashboard preserves the characteristic single gauge instrument and the classic flat painted dashboard, distinctive elements of the Beetle of the era. The headliner is also in good condition and the windows slide smoothly.
MECHANICS
The car is equipped with its own engine with the original code “D,” as stated on the registration certificate. It starts easily, has been restored and is regularly functioning. Over the years it has benefited from careful maintenance by an enthusiast. The gearbox, clutch and braking system operate correctly, allowing pleasant use of the car immediately.
The technical inspection is currently valid until February 2028. The car has also regularly passed previous inspections in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2015, 2019, 2021, 2024 and 2026, testimony to continuous attention to its mechanical efficiency. The car has also been driven to our venue without operating anomalies.
As with any classic car, before undertaking long trips it is advisable to perform a general check and normal preventive maintenance.
Thanks to the rare Jeans configuration, the original Yellow Tunis color, the black plates with the first-registration booklet, the engine with the correct code and the documented continuity of the technical checks, this Volkswagen Beetle represents a very desirable specimen for enthusiasts of the special editions of the seventies.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
