Description from the seller

This is an antique, fan-shaped French faience jardinière (flower or plant trough), hand-painted in the distinctive Rouen style.

The Factory:
Given the monogram, the form and the bold color palette (ochre yellow, cobalt blue and iron red), this piece was very likely produced in Desvres (northern France) by a well-known earthenware factory such as Fourmaintraux.

The potters in Desvres were known for reproducing the iconic 17th- and 18th-century decors from Rouen, Nevers and Moustiers at a high level.

This specific type of polychrome painting with stylized flowers, cornucopia and fine scroll motifs imitates French Baroque.

The design imitates the shape of an open fan (jardinière and éventail).

This particular model was produced around the turn of the century (circa 1890–1910) and was often made as a chic centerpiece.

The number 75 refers in this case to the specific model or form number in the factory catalog.

Length: 37.5 cm
Width: 11.2 cm
Height: 16.5 cm

The piece has, in several spots, small chips, which is not unusual given its age.

See photos. They form part of the description.

Will of course be very well packed and shipped.
