Yamila Velázquez (Las Tunas, Cuba, 1993) is a contemporary artist who uses digital intelligence tools; she currently lives and works in Alicante, Spain. Owner and partner of a company dedicated to the sale, representation and development of artists and artworks, Velázquez combines her business vision with a deep artistic sensitivity.
This young Cuban talent has established herself in the field of digital art, using contemporary media to explore themes related to nature, landscape, and the intimate relationship between woman and her surroundings. Traditionally, Kintsugi is the art of repairing broken ceramics with gold, understanding that the object becomes more beautiful for having been cracked and repaired. Here, the artist applies this premise to the concept of the “public image.” Hepburn’s face is not a smooth, perfect surface; it is composed of an amalgam of fractured brushstrokes, overlapping textures, and an explosive palette of cobalt blues, ochre yellows, and visceral reds.
