Artist Biography:

Martín Vidal Corella (Valencia, January 1, 1895 – June 4, 1976). Painter and photographer (as were his brothers Vicente and Luis), born into a family with several generations of artists who were pioneers of photography.

Son of Martín Vidal Romero, the initiator of a lineage of Valencian photographers that continues to the present in the person of his brother Luis Vidal Corella’s grandson, Luis Vidal Ayala.

He studied at the San Carlos Academy; and his work was positively valued, as shown by obtaining the third medal at the 1914 Regional Art Exhibition, and the first prize the following year.

He was a student of Mariano Benlliure and a teacher of Fernando Hurtado Sanchís.

He competed on various occasions, winning new awards. He was an artistic photographer, a professional in press photojournalism. His studio is located in the maritime district. A costumbrista photographer of Valencian life in the early 20th century, part of his photographic work was acquired by the Valencia City Hall archive.
