Description from the seller
This acrylic on canvas by the Sardinian master Mauro Pani (born 1957) is a powerful Romantic and surreal work. The composition, set in a vertical format, makes use of the mouth of a majestic sea cave as a natural stage. At the center, the spectral silhouette of an ancient galleon emerges from the chiaroscuro, enveloped in a foggy, timeless atmosphere.
The artist demonstrates refined technical mastery in light contrast: a silver, diffused light comes from the background, backlighting the rigging details, while touches of blue and turquoise cast vibrant reflections on the water surface in the foreground. The work stands out for its strong introspective charge, transforming a seascape into a suggestive “state of mind” suspended between mystery, memory, and legend.
Painted in 2026, signed at the bottom left, finished with a final protective coating. Supplied without a frame. Shipped directly from my studio to the listing, accompanied by a handwritten certificate of authenticity. Sent mounted on a stretcher, with DHL courier in sturdy packaging and insured.
Born in Sardinia on December 28, 1957, my name is Mauro Pani and I am a self-taught painter, with several regional exhibitions and a couple of collaborations with the Mario Mazzoleni Gallery, Artmajeur, and some scattered across the national territory. Many of my works now reside throughout Europe. I do not like galleries because I am very reserved; beauty and art in general should not be judged by how many exhibitions and art critics you have been able to pay.
