Description from the seller
Art Deco set earclips – 14-karat yellow and white gold – four vintage diamonds – “1930–1950”
Elegant vintage earrings with a pronounced geometric Art Deco design, presumably manufactured in the period circa 1930–1950.
The elongated, openwork drop pendants are crafted in 14-karat yellow gold and feature contrasting white gold centerpiece elements and diamond settings. Each ear earring is mounted with two small round brilliant-cut diamonds, resulting in a total of four diamonds totaling 0.8–0.14 ct for the pair. The stones have been positively tested with a diamond tester.
Under strong magnification the diamonds show visible inclusions and the characteristic, somewhat irregular faceting that can occur in older-sawn stones. It is likely an old brilliant or transition cut. On one stone there is a small irregularity at the edge, possibly a surface-reaching inclusion or an age-related flaw. Please refer to the detailed macro photographs.
The diamonds are set in raised, individually constructed white-gold prong settings. The somewhat irregular shape of the prongs and the construction built from separate components indicate largely artisanal workmanship.
The outer yellow-gold frame features a refined, slightly grainy and hammered surface texture. This decorative finish enhances the authentic character of the earrings and gives the gold a warm, lively appearance.
The earrings have original adjustable screw closures and can therefore be worn without pierced ears. Both screw backs are individually stamped with the gold hallmark 585, corresponding to 14-karat gold. The gold has also been positively tested with 14-karat testing fluid.
The clean lines, open geometric construction, and the combination of yellow and white gold give the pair a distinctive Art Deco look. A stylish and wearable vintage piece for lovers and collectors of antique gold jewelry.
