Philips - 22GF303/03B Record player

From the 1970s, whose aesthetics are signed Patrice Dupont. This device is also known under the names: Pompon (in Germany), Space Age, UFO turntable, or Curling. The Philips reference is: 22GF303/03B. It also exists under the Radiola brand (reference RA4330), conceptually identical in every respect.

This exemplar is in beautiful condition and works perfectly on mains and on batteries. The sound is as expected, even at maximum volume.

It is free of cracks and breaks. The few light scratches on the lid are hardly noticeable.

The turntable has been checked; only two chemical capacitors were replaced as a preventive measure: they concern the mains filtering and the connection from the audio power stage to the speaker. The speaker cable had been replaced in a previous life.

The lid hinge is in very good condition; this is a sensitive point on the 22GF303 series.

The carrying handle is also pristine and functional.

The rotation speed is regulated, and adjustable if necessary, by an active transistor system powered by batteries and by mains. The speed is accurate at 33, 45, and 78 rpm.

The tonearm/cartridge is new: if preserved from heat and humidity, its life will be very long. However, the diamond currently in good condition is, as is normal, a wear item that may need replacement: a spare diamond, in its original packaging, never opened, is provided to you. This fine device is worth it.

The cartridge reference is 22GP204 and it is equipped with its rare stylus guard. Cartridge references 22GP200, 22GP224, 22GP205 are compatible. The diamond reference is Philips 412 (or simply search for “diamond for 22GP204, or 200, or 205 or 224”).
