An Austrian Art Nouveau porcelain candle stand with match holder by Ernst Wahliss, circa 1900, 8 cm high, 21 cm wide and 16 cm deep, featuring a lying female figure among organic floral and water motifs, with matte skin tones and iridescent blue‑gray glaze, marked Ernst Wahliss, Made in Austria and model number 4662/223/8, in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restorations.

A remarkable Austrian Art Nouveau candle holder with a match holder, manufactured by Ernst Wahliss around 1900.
The piece features a beautifully modeled reclining female figure, surrounded by organic flower and water motifs.
The combination of matte flesh tones with the glossy, softly iridescent blue-gray glaze is characteristic of Wahliss's figurative ceramics from this period.
The underside bears the Ernst Wahliss mark, the designation “Made in Austria” and the impressed model number 4662/223/8.
This model is illustrated in the important reference work Monsters and Maidens – Collectors Edition by Byron Vreeland, page 459. The book includes an extensive section with more than one hundred images of Ernst Wahliss's figurative works.
Condition: excellent condition, without chips, cracks, or restorations.
It will, of course, be carefully packaged and shipped by registered mail.
