Description from the seller
Splendid space-saving table in fratino finish with side drop leaves (ribalta), made in Italy in the mid-20th century in Renaissance/Rustic style.
The table is built in solid wood (probably walnut or chestnut) and features a magnificent warm, lived-in patina. The structure is characterized by a sturdy trestle base, stabilized by an elegant wrought-iron tie-rod under the key shaped in a swan neck with decorative curls.
The piece is extremely versatile thanks to the drop leaves: when closed it functions as a narrow wall or corridor console, while when open it becomes a wide dining table. The leaves are supported by sturdy removable wooden supports inserted into the lower frame. It also features a practical central drawer with a wooden knob.
The item is presented in generally good vintage condition, structurally solid and stable. The leaf mechanisms run smoothly. It shows normal and light signs of wear, small stains and wear on the top that attest to its history and enrich its rustic charm. Wood
