The top is in spectacular Nero Marquina marble, among the finest marbles you can find for a configuration.

The table is still in production by Knoll and new list price is over 10k.

The table should be considered in like-new condition.

the brandmark is still present on the underside of the base and the die-cast mark on the iron base of the table 'Knoll International 164'.

Saarinen (or Tulip) by Knoll is an iconic table by the famous Finnish-American architect and designer Eero Saarinen, from whom it also derives its name.
Known for its minimalist and distinctive form, it is one of the most recognizable pieces of 20th-century design, designed in 1956 as part of a search to create a timeless design that would defy the transient trends of the era.

Eero Saarinen designed the famous table in 1956 within his ‘Pedestal Collection’ and with the main aim of creating a piece of furniture that was extremely functional and versatile, yet elegant and free of superfluous components. It is characterized by a top that seems to float in balance over a slim pedestal base shaped like a tulip, hence the name Tulip, designed to eliminate the 'problem' of table legs and to offer a sense of lightness and visual continuity.

One of the distinctive features of the Saarinen is its ability to adapt to a variety of environments thanks to its timeless design and elegant versatility. This table is particularly suitable for modern and minimalist spaces, but it can be used in a wide range of contexts, from residential to commercial or even institutional.

Over the years, Tulip products, or Saarinen if you prefer, evolved into a collection that also includes chairs, armchairs, and coffee tables, all united by the same idea of visual and functional freedom.
