1998 Accomasso, Vigneto Rocchette - Barolo - 1 Bottle (0.75L)

Cantina Comm. Lorenzo Accomasso is a legendary producer of traditionally-styled Barolo wines located in La Morra. The collection of Barolo Riserva wines are extremely limited, with a mere 1000 cases produced annually from just three hectares of vines. The collection is highly sought-after by connoisseurs and collectors worldwide.

Lorenzo Accomasso, who died in 2025 aged 91, began producing wine with the 1958 vintage. His prowess earned him the Commendatore order of knighthood from the Italian government for service to the Republic.

Since the 1980s cellar door visits (of just a few bottles per person, and hard to organize) have been the preferred means of sale. This has added an additional element of scarcity to the limited production.

Winemaking processes are traditional; fermentation and maceration takes place in concrete tanks for 50-60 days with the cap punched down by hand. Accomasso was a pioneer in many respects however, including short-pruning and green harvests to limit yield and raise quality.

On the Commendatore's passing, the estate has been taken over by his nephew, also Lorenzio.

The three hectares of vines are located close to the house and cellars in the hamlet of Pozzo. They are distibuted between the MGAs (Crus) Rocche dell'Annunziata and Annunziata di la Morra. The Barolo bottlings are:

Rocche dell'Annunziata Vigna Rocchette (single vineyard parcel within the MGA). Though this represented the jewel in the crown, Lorenzo replanted this site in 2015 for the benefit of his nephew, who has taken over the reins a decade later).
