Historically themed creation published to mark the centenary of the French Revolution by sculptor-engraver L DANJOU, signed and dated 1889.

It is a Republican manifesto of popular art to illustrate the victory of 1789.

On the medallions are depicted Robespierre and Saint-Just as founding fathers of social justice, and Saint George slaying the dragon as the spirit of the Republican people, eradicating the dragon of Monarchy and Feudalism.

Wooden backing covered with green velvet in fairly good condition; the flaws are visible in one of the photos.

The central medallion needs to be reattached by the interested collector (see photo).
