This €2 commemorative coin issued by the Principality of Monaco in 2015 marks the 800th anniversary of the construction of the first fortress on the Rock of Monaco (1215-2015).
The obverse depicts the Rock of Monaco with the first fortress, accompanied by the inscriptions "MONACO" and "1215 – FOUNDATION OF THE FORTRESS – 2015". The reverse repeats the common motif of €2 coins.
