Kandem (Körting & Mathiesen) is a German lighting company with a history dating back to 1889. 
•The lamp 12000 is a Bauhaus creation: it was designed by Marianne Brandt, a central figure in the Bauhaus Metal Workshop. 
•The connection with the Bauhaus is one of its strengths: Kandem collaborated with the Bauhaus from 1928 to 1933, producing lamps with functional yet elegant design. 
•According to some sources, model 12000 has dimensions of about 45 cm in height, with a shade of about 15 cm in diameter.

Design and materials

Strengths:
•Bauhaus aesthetics: clean lines, essential but well-studied structure. The “functionality + form” approach is very pronounced.
•Materials: metal (typically painted) which gives solidity and durability. Many original examples still have their enameled finish. 
•Adjustability: the arm and the tilt of the reflector are well designed, allowing precise light direction. (in vintage descriptions it appears as “movable diffuser”) 
•Switch: original design, with a rotary switch that provides a pleasant “click” (in modern versions inspired by the classic model).

The Kandem 12000 lamp is a true Bauhaus design jewel: it combines historical aesthetics with practical functionality. If you are passionate about design, architecture, vintage furniture, or you want an object that tells a story (in addition to lighting), it is an excellent choice. It is not necessarily the most “economical” or “powerful” lamp for purely functional uses but, as a collectible piece or a high-quality desk lamp, it is extraordinary.
