Rare collection of three gilded bronze photo frames – 19th century – Louis XVI style

A very beautiful set of three antique metal gilded photo frames, styled Louis XVI, dating likely from the second half / end of the 19th century.

This collection brings together three particularly decorative models: two triptych frames and an elegant double articulated frame.

Large round triptych frame

The first and probably the most remarkable features three circular medallions arranged in a cloverleaf pattern.
The frames are outlined with a delicate decoration of crossed ribbons. The whole is suspended from a spectacular gilded pediment composed of a large ribbon knot and long floral garlands, characteristic of the Louis XVI decorative repertoire.

Notable feature: all three medallions retain their old domed glass, which gives the ensemble that characteristic depth of 19th-century photo frames.

Oval triptych frame

The second model features three large oval views, each surrounded by an elegant border of ovals.
The upper part is enhanced by a pierced pediment with volutes and foliage that has undergone deformation (see photo).

The three positions are also protected by their old domed glasses.

The metal stand visible on the back appears to be an old or later replacement and is noted for accuracy.

Double bevelled-glass frame

The third is a very elegant double articulated frame composed of two thick glass panes with broadly bevelled edges.
Each part is crowned with a delicate Louis XVI ribbon knot in gilded bronze.
The central joint is particularly decorative, with a vertical ornament made up of palmettes, rosettes and foliage.

The frame retains its articulated mechanism allowing adjustment of its openness and tilt.

Dimensions: approximately 13 × 16 cm.

The set displays a beautiful old patina and signs of use compatible with its age. The antique glasses are a true asset for these pieces.
