This splendid object is a surtout de table (or modular centerpiece) in pressed crystal, a prestigious decorative element for haute cuisine and aristocratic tables, historically produced by renowned manufactories such as Baccarat (Bambou / Tors model). It is not a fixed one-off piece, but a system composed of multiple interlocking elements (in this case you can see the straight rectangular pieces and the curved bridges raised at the ends). It was placed at the center of the table during important banquets to create spectacular arrangements, often filled with water to host small fresh flowers or floating candles.
