Female statuette, Ewe culture, Ghana. H. 38 cm

Beautiful female statuette from Ghana. The figure has a strong presence, the body is taut, the figure seems awake, head forward, alert. The face is captivating, the gaze is determined and lively. The mouth is slightly open, once fed; its patina tells us so. The face is the most refined part, the rest of the body with fine volumes is carved more simply. Wooden curls adorn her ears. The white color is supplied by the wood used as well as by the application of kaolin powder. A fine, old, authentic collectible piece. Circa 1960.

Belle statuette féminine du Ghana. Le personnage a beaucoup de présence, le corps est en tension, le personnage semble être éveillé, la tête en avant, à l’aguets. Le visage est captivant, le regard est déterminé et vif. La bouche entre ouverte fut nourrie, sa patine nous l’indique. Le visage est la partie la plus raffinée, le reste du corps avec de beaux volumes, est sculpté plus simplement. Des boucles en bois ornent ses oreilles. La couleur blanche est apportée par le bois utilisé ainsi que par l’application de poudre de kaolin. Une belle pièce de collection ancienne et authentique. Circa 1960.
