AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Description

Very beautiful Art Deco coupe by Val Saint Lambert, originating from the well-known Luxval series and executed in an elegant soft pink/rosaline glass color.

The design is attributed to Charles Graffart, one of the leading designers associated with Val Saint Lambert during the Art Deco period.

This model is documented in the historical Val Saint Lambert Luxval catalog of 1935, where it is depicted as model no. 11 on the page “Moulures Diverses.” An image of this historical catalog page is attached to the lot.

Design

The coupe has a pronounced Art Deco styling. The wide, semicircular bowl is built up from vertical geometric ribs and rests on a sturdy round profiled base.

The most characteristic element are the richly worked ornaments at both ends. These consist of a series of stylized spiral and curl motifs, giving the geometric design a particularly decorative character.

The transparent rosaline/pink glass mass provides beautiful color variations. Depending on the incidence of light, the glass ranges from very soft light pink to a warmer salmon- and rosé-tint. The thick parts of the pressed glass accentuate the color even more.
