Description from the seller
Bronze arrowhead with three edges belonging to the Scythian culture. Dated to approximately 200 BC. It is mounted in silvered metal and linked in a modern 925 silver cable chain.
These hole-pierced tips were designed to be fastened to wood so that they would not loosen when drawing the bow or during flight. Additionally, there were variants where these holes produced a sharp whistling sound as they cut the air, known as whistling arrows. These whistling arrows served both to intimidate the enemy on the battlefield and to coordinate attacks, give orders, or guide the direction of the charge on horseback in a state of confusion.
To be shipped with a legal declaration sheet.
Customs costs outside the EU will be borne by the winning bidder.
