Description from the seller
UNIVERSAL GENEVE Polerouter Automatic – Micro-rotor Cal. 218-2 (c. 1958–1962)
One of Universal Genève's most representative references, equipped with the prestigious 28-jewel microrotor caliber 218-2, developed from Gérald Genta's revolutionary design for the Polerouter line. This movement is considered a milestone in Swiss watchmaking for its slimness, efficiency, and build quality.
The gold-plated case retains an elegant presence, though it shows wear typical of use and the passage of time, especially on the lugs and the bezel, where plating loss and surface oxidation are evident. The stainless steel case back bears normal signs of use.
The original silver dial displays a very marked patina with abundant oxidation stains and uniform aging—features that many collectors value for their authenticity. It retains its applied indices, dauphine hands, and the date window at 3 o'clock.
Inside, it houses the Universal Genève caliber 218-2, automatic microrotor, 28 jewels, visible in the photographs. The movement appears complete, clean, and with no obvious signs of major interventions, maintaining Universal Genève's characteristic finish.
