AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Antique English silver-mounted walking cane – London 1923

An elegant early 20th century English walking cane, featuring a substantial rounded silver handle mounted on a richly patinated wooden shaft. The silver handle is fully hallmarked for London 1923, together with a maker’s mark, and has a restrained, classic form typical of English gentleman’s walking canes of the period. The warm-toned wooden shaft has developed an attractive natural patina through age and use and retains its original horn ferrule, a particularly pleasing period detail.

The cane remains in good and solid antique condition overall, presenting well despite the age-related wear. The silver handle shows surface wear, light scratches, small dents and a small split, all consistent with age and use. The wooden shaft has a couple of longitudinal age-related splits near the horn ferrule; despite these, the shaft remains solid and the cane retains a good overall form. The original horn ferrule remains present and intact. The various signs of use contribute to the attractive, naturally aged character of the piece. Please refer carefully to the photographs, which clearly illustrate the condition.

A handsome and authentic 1920s English walking cane, combining fully hallmarked London silver with a beautifully aged wooden shaft and original horn ferrule.
