I’m selling my Longines Avigation BigEye, reference L2.816.4.53.2, purchased new in December 2020.

A particularly interesting opportunity for those looking for one of the most charismatic models in Longines' Heritage collection, in a condition that is very hard to find.

The Avigation BigEye is a reinterpretation of a historic pilot chronograph by Longines and quickly became one of the brand’s most recognizable Heritage models. Its design even earned the “Revival Watch Prize” at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in 2017.

This exemplar is very, very well cared for, having always been treated with great care.

One especially relevant detail: the original Longines bracelet has never been worn, so it is effectively like new.

The BigEye manages to combine the presence of a true aviation chronograph with very balanced proportions on the wrist:

Despite the 41 mm size, the case and lug proportions make it sit very well on the wrist, maintaining the strong visual presence typical of a pilot chronograph without becoming excessively large.

The large 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock—the “Big Eye” that gives the watch its name—together with the oversized chronograph pushers, the highly legible dial, and the vintage-profile crystal give it a very distinctive identity.

In my opinion, it is one of Longines’ best-executed Heritage pieces: historic without feeling old-fashioned, sporty enough for daily wear, and with an automatically wound column-wheel chronograph movement particularly interesting in this range.
