Description from the seller
Antique pair of Venetian pier mirrors, late 19th century. Made in carved wood, gilded with gold leaf and decorated with Rocaille motifs, these refined mirrors feature a dynamically framed surround, enriched with volutes, acanthus leaves and a Genoese lily crest, typical of late Baroque Venetian taste. The mirrors, probably mercury-backed, retain an authentic patina that gives charm and depth to the whole. At the base, each mirror is equipped with a carved and gilded mouthpiece support arm, originally intended to hold a candle, a detail of rare decorative elegance. Pieces of notable value, ideal for classical interiors or as scenographic accents in contemporary contexts.
