Also the shepherd's cross is on the handle. This symbol, used by shepherds during their long treks across the land to pray for their meals, with the knife stuck into the bread. The French shepherds often enjoyed wine as well, and therefore versions with a corkscrew were made, of which this is one.

Laguiole
The well-known knife from France is originally a beautiful functional pocket knife. Laguiole is not a brand name, but a reference to a small French village. It was designed with a Spanish pocket knife called navaja as its starting point and a local French dagger called capuchadou.
