Description from the seller
Rare WW1 / Interwar Trench Art Desk Inkwell with Artillery Time Fuze & Horseshoe Base (Dated 1926-1928)
A highly detailed and unique piece of trench art / militaria desk decor. This impressive piece functions as a desk inkwell with a hinged lid, mounted on a solid brass base with ball feet and a horseshoe backrest.
Artillery Time Fuze Inkwell: The main ink reservoir is skillfully crafted from an authentic World War I era artillery time fuze (Zeitzünder), complete with original engraved numerical time scales and markings. Hinged Lid: The top features a fully functional hinged lid mechanism that opens to reveal the ink compartment inside.
Horseshoe Backing: Stamped with the date "1926-28", likely commemorating cavalry service, a military regiment, or a veteran association from the interwar period.
Construction: Heavy brass/bronze and nickel-plated metal with pyramid studs and ball feet on the base.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition with beautiful natural patina. The hinge works smoothly and all original engravings remain crisp and clearly visible.
A standout addition for collectors of WW1 memorabilia, trench art, artillery items, or antique desk accessories
