Description from the seller
Box, sewing table, UNION needle case – Sinram & Wendt, Germany, 1950s.
Original wooden needle case, fold-out sewing table of the UNION brand, marked with a preserved metal manufacturer plaque.
The piece dates from the 1950s and was manufactured in Germany by the company Sinram & Wendt, whose products carried the UNION mark.
The company was founded in 1899 by Friedrich Sinram and Carl Wendt. Initially it produced wooden hangers, and the UNION brand later became part of the company name.
The company specialized initially in wooden goods, and in the first half of the 20th century expanded into small functional furniture. Even before World War II its range included, among other things, furniture and stands designed for storing sewing tools. The UNION brand was the company’s trademark and appeared on its original products.
The presented piece features:
• fold-out, accordion mechanism
• numerous wooden compartments for threads, needles and sewing tools, accessories, cosmetics, jewelry
• two upper, opening lids
• central wooden handle
• metal arms of the mechanism
• four original wheels
• above all, the original enameled UNION plaque
In one photo, an advertisement from the 1930s.
The furniture is extremely decorative and today can serve not only as a needle case but also as an original auxiliary table, a bar, a jewelry box, for accessories or glasses, a display piece, or a distinctive interior ornament in a vintage, retro, or mid-century style.
Condition visible in the photos, good vintage, preserved natural signs of age and use that emphasize the item’s authenticity.
Dimensions:
Height: 63 cm
Width: 48 cm (unfolded 123 cm)
Depth: 23 cm
